A baby who has colic is a miserable baby.
To understand how to help the baby, knowing what colic is and what causes it is necessary to find a baby gas remedy that will work. Colic is thought to be caused from gas. These babies will cry more than other babies that is inconsolable. Other signs include the baby clenching fists and pulling up legs while crying. It is a painful condition that is difficult to watch so, of course, the desire to help the baby is of utmost importance. There are many remedies that can be used in order to attempt to reduce the gas that babies get that causes the colic.
Before going to a medication, it is a wise idea to try a baby gas remedy to reduce the gas that leads to fussiness. Changing the position of the baby while feeding may help. Try keeping baby as upright as possible. They should not be laying down when being fed but rather be in a more upright position. Using bottles that reduce the amount of air that baby gets may also be helpful. Because colic is caused by gas, special bottles can be purchased that helps to reduce air intake at feedings. Burping more often can also be a helpful remedy. Many people think that they should only be burping baby at the end of the bottle. It is perfectly acceptable to burp after every two ounces of formula ingested.
Simply stop feeding and burp. When baby has released that gas, feeding can resume. It is said that babies do grow out of being colicky and that a part of the reason it happens is because the digestive system is immature. As baby grows, it matures and the problem will eventually remedy itself. In the meantime, trying a baby gas remedy such as those listed here may make baby more comfortable until they get to a place in their life where they grow out of it.
It may take one of these or a combination of these. If all of these have been attempted and they are not working, a doctor will be able to help determine what, if any, medication may help to alleviate the gas that causes colic. To have a baby with colic is frustrating for the parents and painful for the baby so the sooner it is cured, the better off everybody will be.
