Choosing A New Baby Stroller Posted By : Marcus Perchowski

ThereÂ’s Baby Gear For Everything – Including Strollers!

/>

Wow! When it comes to baby gear, strollers are certainly found in a very large choice of shapes, size, options and benefits. When deciding on the best baby stroller, 1st think about the kind of baby transportation you want.

Perhaps you have in mind something to transport baby and all that gear along the lines of a traditional stroller. You might find that having more than 1 stroller might be your best bet. A stroller for everyday use and a lighter model for traveling.

Here are some basic strollers to consider. As previously alluded to, there really isn’t any limit on the numerous options – and prices – for baby strollers available today!

Seat-Carrier Frame Strollers

These models are made for newborns who arenÂ’t quite capable of sitting up on their own yet. For that reason, this type of stroller does not have an adjustable seat. Actually, thereÂ’s no seat! It lays flat and purposely designed to carry a baby car seat for any strolling you want to do. No need waking up the baby, simply transport the car seat over to the stroller and away you go!

Combo Strollers

“Combos” – are a carriage and stroller in one. This type of stroller can be used with a newborn. They are designed to hold your baby flat in either a bassinet or an infant car seat.

In reality, you could use this kind of stroller from birth up through the toddler years. (It supports around 40 lbs). As the baby gets older, you can use the adjustable seat attachment for the correct sitting setup. These models tend to get rather pricey though costing up to $900. But for this high dollar price tag you get lots of choices such as further storage space for all that baby gear and large canopies for protection from the sun and rain.

Travel System Strollers

For traveling, these units are great! Babies who arenÂ’t capable of sitting up can be conveniently moved right in their car seat, that securely fastens to the stroller. When itÂ’s time to head back to the automobile, just lift the seat off the stroller and snap it into the carÂ’s safety belt system. Very convenient!

Old School Baby Buggies
These ‘old fashionedÂ’ kinds of strollers are still around today. They typically have spoked wheels and lots of space for baby and for baby gear. Carriages are great for newborns and a few models have removable ‘carrying cots’.

The not-so-good news is that carriages are fairly large, cumbersome and not overly maneuverable. They are especially awkward to use in crowed town locations where you will encounter quite a few obstacles to deal with. Still, if ‘old fashion’ is your preference, these strollers are huge and roomy and provide a small amount nostalgia for days gone by.

Traditional Baby Strollers

Strollers tabbed as ‘traditional’ are in a class that has a bit of everything. Traditional strollers range from light-weight designs all the way to massive, industrial-strength designs.

The ‘Hercules’ models are designed extra durable with huge storage space and lots of room. They have engineered shock absorbers on all four wheels and are manufactured to take plenty of rough use. Needless to say they are bulky. Yes, they are sturdy and stable, but rather massive.

There are several features found in traditional strollers like snack trays, lots of baby gear storage, one-handed folding capabilities, and adjustable seating. These are really all-in-1 models and might be designed to accommodate bassinets and car seats. But they do have a tendency to be a touch on the heavy side so traveling with them is more of a task.

Umbrella Strollers

Since the handles on these strollers resemble those found on an umbrella, they are aptly named. These strollers are extremely lightweight and truly convenient for traveling. Most umbrella strollers fold simply but the ride can be a little bit rough (depending on the terrain). They make a great additional stroller and the cost is very reasonable.

All-Terrain Strollers

And speaking of terrain, we like to take our babies just about everywhere we go! And that includes off the beaten path. This can be where an all-terrain stroller earns its keep.

These strollers are heavy duty and can take the punishment thanks to oversized bicycle-like tires. And yes, they’re inflatable! And there are only three of them. Riding on air smooths out those bumpy ‘off roadÂ’ treks. And they’re capable of handling heavier loads which makes them ideal for ‘largerÂ’ babies and also when youÂ’re hauling around additional baby gear.

Jogging strollers

No sense missing out on our workouts just because of the little one. You can find strollers specifically designed for active parents who desire to bring along their babies with them on their jogs.

A stroller purposely made for jogging is a 3-wheeled device with large, air-filled tires. These strollers have extra long handles that positions the stroller a little further in front of the jogger so jogging legs have ample space to move and not be hindered by the stroller frame.

Safety features on this sort of stroller come with a front brake and a wrist strap so everything stays under control at all times. This is vitally important. Their strong design enables the stroller to travel cross-country the same as an all-terrain stroller.

There are a great deal of baby stroller choices to fit in with your personal lifestyle. From traditional carriages, all-in-one travel units, light-weight umbrella strollers and extra hardy baby strollers for on-the-go families, youÂ’re sure to find the perfect baby stroller to enhance your individual preference and baby transportation needs.
