Potty Training Toddlers Tips When Out Of Your Home

Are you experiencing frequent potty accidents when you are going out?

Are you one of those parents who put their toddler back into diapers or pull-ups when you go out and confuse your child? There are things that you can do that will help you to avoid these accidents and can allow your child to remain in her underwear while out and about. Use these tips and prevent many accidents happening.

Staying around the house for the first week of potty training your toddler can be helpful but you may not find this possible. Your child’s bladder control is not likely to very good when she first commences potty training and when she indicates that she needs to “go potty” she will mean IMMEDIATELY.

For the first few weeks you will have to organize your life around potty training. This is not difficult if you plan and think well ahead. Make a note of any regular times that your toddler uses the bathroom and includes these in anything you plan.

Always make sure your child goes potty before you leave the house. Make this part of going out routine and allow enough time for it.

Encourage your toddler to have larger drinks rather than more frequent smaller ones. Make sure you know how long a drink takes to from her mouth to her bladder. Having this information at your finger tips will enables you to be near the bathroom at the required times.

Carrying a collapsible potty around with you for the first couple of months can be very helpful.

When you arrive at a new location always locate the bathroom and take your toddler there before you start your errands etc. Having this information will give you more confidence and encourage you to not behave like many parents and put your child back into diapers when you go out.

This extra planning will save many accidents and make potty training a lot simper. It will take a little extra thought to plan your day according to your child’s potty training requirement. But it will save many accidents and is well worth the extra effort.

Sometimes rewarding your child if she is dry for the whole time you are out and about.
